To improve the health of Medicare beneficiaries by addressing the social determinants of health, improving emergency preparedness and enhancing mental health, CMS issues a proposed rule.
The Biden-Harris Administration efforts to support historically underrepresented and under resourced communities. Also, the advanced value-based care is expanded upon by the fiscal year 2025 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System (LTCH PPS).
As per the Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, everybody should have the access to healthcare regardless of their ethnicity, color, economic status or any other things. According to her, the Biden-Harris Administration has solely focused on the care needed for the patients and ensured the hospitals have the prescription drugs to provide the required services to the patients.
The rule has elaborated on
- Access to treatment in the rural and remote areas to support the underserved communities.
- A consistent data reporting regarding the cases of COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Along with this, additional reporting will be mandatory in cases of emergency.
- Navigating improvements in the quality of care, in the cases of childbirth, pregnancy and postpartum.
